The activity of the "Eco-Initiative" Association in Kwidzyn is supported by the National Fund for Environment Protection and Water Management.

About the Association

The "Eco-Initiative" Association was founded in May 2000 in order to meet the needs of the active citizens of Kwidzyn, its teachers, small-scale entrepreneurs, farmers and the youth. Since the beginning of its activity, all its initiatives come under one common leading idea of "Ecology with the people and for the people".

Perceiving all the causes of the ecological crisis being the activity of a man, we simultaneously acknowledge a huge role people play in saving the so far accumulated nature resources  as well as the restoration of its lost magnificence. We believe in people's wisdom,   trigger social mechanisms which make the people who engage in the activities for the benefit of environment protection feel satisfied and pleased with their work, and at the same time realize the significance of even the tiniest of the actions undertaken in that field.

The "Eco-Initiative" Association is a member of the nationwide network of Local Activity Centres (CAL) www.cal.ngo.pl. This membership mobilizes our organization to meet the determined work standards, such as: acting as a response to the previously diagnosed social needs, engaging the citizens into our activities, cooperation with volunteers,  work based on project implementation. Activity within the network creates possibilities of constant training of the employees as well as of raising work standards.

For a few years of its operation, the "Eco-Initiative" Association has gathered a well-cooperating team of employees which currently consists of 26 people. Depending on the nature of the realized tasks, the average employment amounts to 7 people, including project coordinators, ecological education experts and administrative workers. The Association has a group of its permanent volunteers as well as a group of people who help in particular actions, such as: happenings, surveys, etc.

The "Eco-Initiative" Association realises local- and nationwide-scale projects as well as the projects with the engagement of foreign partners. The "Eco-Initiative Association was the first organisation in Kwidzyn's county to be granted the statute of a civil service organization. Each Polish citizen is in power to support the activity of a civil service organisation by  donating 1% of his income tax. More about the civil service and "the1% mechanism" in Poland on www.ngo.pl.
